Town are set to make Preston North End an improved offer for central defender Sean St Ledger, according to a report in Ireland. The Blues have been chasing the 26-year-old since January with an additional centre-half still very much required, despite the recruitment of former Reading man Ivar Ingimarsson on a one-year deal.

Doncaster Rovers have turned down a Town offer of £400,000 for midfielder James Coppinger, according to reports in South Yorkshire. The 30-year-old was previously the subject of a £300,000 bid by the Blues which was rebuffed along with a £2.3 million offer for striker Billy Sharp.

Delaney came on in the fourth minute of injury time after Keith Andrews and Simon Cox, a Town loan target earlier in the year, had netted a goal in either half.
